Packing an Aluminum Santana Tandem in a Santana Airliner SafeCase.

Designed and built exclusively for Santana, the Airliner SafeCase is a tough vault-like case with thick foam lining, interlocking edges, full length hinge, locking hasps and industrial strength casters. It protects the frame and components with several layers of foam that are custom cut to fit each model.

This heavy duty case simplifies the packing process and it also does a great job of protecting the bike but it doesn't meet the airline regulation checkable luggage size requirement so you may have to pay the airline a fee for oversize luggage. It's combined length + width + thickness totals 74" which exceeds the 62" limit by 12".

Another point to consider  when using one case for a tandem is the new 50 pound luggage weight limit that many airlines have gone to. A tandem plus case will most likely exceed 50 pounds so it's possible that a fee for the excess weight will be charged.
